Job description

At Saga, we're building the intelligence that helps lawyers think faster, work smarter, and stay in control of their craft. Our AI platform blends legal reasoning with machine precision to make complex work simpler, sharper, and more human.

We’re growing fast. Legal teams rely on Saga for critical work, and our platform is scaling across markets. As that happens, finance cannot lag behind. We need systems that are clean, processes that hold up under pressure, and numbers we can trust at any moment. Saga operates with an AI-first mindset, including within finance. Repetitive work is being automated. Tooling is evolving quickly. We’re not looking to maintain spreadsheets, we’re building a finance function that is fast, accurate, and scalable. We’re opening an Assistant Financial Controller role for someone who wants to take ownership of the fundamentals and improve how things work while doing it.

Your role as Assistant Financial Controller

In your first months, the work will be admin-heavy by design. You’ll build a clean and reliable financial foundation across invoices, reconciliations, payroll checks, and payment runs. This is not just about keeping things running, you are preparing the ground for full AI support. The quality and consistency you bring will determine how well we can automate and scale, and you will help train that system by ensuring data and processes are correct and repeatable. You make sure our financial data is accurate, complete, and on time, working closely with our Head of Finance, Joanne, and CFO, Remy. At the same time, you help improve how we operate by implementing tools, reducing manual work, and supporting our multi-entity setup. You contribute to month-end closings and get exposure to topics like transfer pricing and consolidation as we grow. This role suits someone who likes structure but is comfortable in a fast-moving environment. Priorities shift, you adapt, ask when needed, and once you understand something, you take ownership and move it forward.

You will also

  • Process incoming and outgoing invoices with accuracy and speed

  • Maintain and improve financial systems across multiple entities

  • Support month-end closings and perform account reconciliations

  • Assist in payroll administration and run checks

  • Execute payment runs and keep debt collection on track

  • Support implementation of accounting tools and automation initiatives

  • Actively improve processes and reduce manual work using AI and technology

  • Handle general financial administration and support ad hoc projects

What you bring to our team

You're thorough, organised, and you take pride in getting the details right. You're comfortable working independently but happy to ask for support when you need it. You thrive in a environment where your work has variety, some admin, some control, some payroll, and where processes are still refined.

  • Experience in financial administration

  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals

  • Confident with spreadsheets and working with financial data

  • Knowledge of Dutch or EU invoice processing requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant coursework

  • Experience working across multiple entities, transfer pricing, or consolidation is useful but not required

  • Fluency in English is required. Dutch or Norwegian is a plus.
